Make a GIF from your webcam
Reactions, waves, a quick “thank you”, a ridiculous dance: some moments just work better as a GIF. This webcam GIF maker records a short clip from your camera and turns it into a looping animated GIF, right in your browser. Choose how long and how big, pick a look, and press record. After a three-second countdown it captures the frames and encodes the GIF on your own device.
Boomerang mode
Tick Boomerang and your clip plays forwards and then backwards, creating that smooth back-and-forth loop. It works best with one simple movement, like a hair flip, a toast or a high-five.
Keeping file sizes small
GIFs can get big quickly, because every frame is stored as a full image with up to 256 colours. For messaging apps, use 320 or 480 pixels wide, 10 frames per second and 2–3 seconds. A plain background and steady camera help too, since fewer changing pixels mean a smaller file. For longer clips with sound, record an MP4 with the video camera instead.
